things you didn’t know to ask.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
THE BASICS
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Is Henniker Motel within walking distance of Pats Peak?
Yes — Pats Peak Ski Area is 0.2 miles from our front door,
about a 3-minute walk. No shuttle, no car, no parking hassle.
Drop your gear in the room and you’re on the mountain. We are
the closest lodging to the Pats Peak chairlift.
Does Henniker Motel have a pool?
Yes. We have an indoor heated pool open year-round, daily from
9 AM to 9 PM. It’s a great way to warm up after a day on the
slopes or cool down after a summer hike. The pool cover keeps
the heat in overnight — staff removes it each morning.
Is Henniker Motel pet friendly?
Yes. Dogs and cats are welcome at no extra charge. We don’t
have a size limit and we don’t charge a pet fee. Note that
poolside rooms are not pet-friendly — all other room types are.
There are good walking areas on the property and the
Contoocook River trail is about a mile away.
How far is Henniker Motel from New England College?
About 2 miles — a 5-minute drive. We are the closest lodging
to the NEC campus, making us a natural fit for graduation
weekends, move-in day, homecoming, and parent visits. We book
up fast around NEC events so reserving early is recommended.
NEC’s online MBA program holds quarterly in-person intensive sessions on campus — we’re the closest and most affordable lodging option for students, and we’re familiar with the schedule. Call Tim directly to book: (603) 428-3536.
What room types does Henniker Motel have?
We have two room types. The Double Queen has two queen beds —
great for families or groups. The Poolside Queen has one queen
bed with a sliding door that opens directly onto the pool area.
Both room types include a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker,
free WiFi, and satellite TV with HBO.
Is there free parking at Henniker Motel?
Yes. Free on-site parking for all guests. Plenty of space for

We don’t have an on-site restaurant, but Country Spirit
Restaurant & Tavern is our top local recommendation — great
food, casual atmosphere, about a 5-minute drive. Note they are
closed on Mondays. The All in One Market is the closest spot
for quick supplies, snacks, beer, and diesel if you need it.
Harvester Market is your full grocery option nearby.

Yes. Free WiFi throughout the property — in all rooms and
public areas. Network name: HennikerMotel. No password required.
How do I get to Henniker Motel?

20 miles west of Concord and 90 minutes from Boston. From
I-89, take Exit 5 toward Henniker. GPS works well — just
search Henniker Motel and it will bring you right to us.
Note: Craney Pond Road and Craney Hill Road are two separate
roads in the area — both off Flanders Road. The motel is on
Craney POND Road. If your GPS takes you to Craney Hill Road,
you’ve gone the wrong way. Call us: (603) 428-3536.

so you can eat by the fire. 🍕

THE MOUNTAIN & THE VIEW
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
What is the mountain visible from Henniker Motel?
That’s Mount Kearsarge, elevation 2,937 feet — one of the most
recognizable peaks in central New Hampshire. You can see it
clearly from the motel property and especially from our
second floor rooms. If you want to get up there, drive to
Rollins State Park in Warner via Kearsarge Mountain Road off
Rt. 103. A short 0.5-mile trail reaches the summit with
panoramic views of all of central New Hampshire. The drive
up is also spectacular and is part of the Currier & Ives
Scenic Byway.
Can I drive to the top of Mount Kearsarge?
Almost. Rollins State Park in Warner has a road that brings
you to within 0.5 miles of the summit — a short, easy trail
from the parking area reaches the top. Directions: follow
Rt. 114 north to Rt. 103 west toward Warner, then turn right
onto Kearsarge Mountain Road. This is about 20 minutes from
the motel.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
HIKING
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Are there hiking trails near Henniker Motel?
Yes — several within a short drive, and one that starts
essentially on our road.
Closest to the motel:
Historic Fire Tower on Craney Hill — 15 minutes by car.

tower with ridge walk to the top of Pats Peak Ski Area.
Tower open for viewing two weekends in October only.
Old Craney Hill Pond Road Trails — 4 miles, 1.5-3 hours.
Moderate. Ascend Craney Hill through beech, hemlock, and
maple trees. Craney Pond — an 18-foot deep warm pond — near
the peak. Best after June 1.
Totten Trails State Forest — Easy, 1 hour. 109 acres,
1.2-mile soft trail through pine and beech forest.
New England College Trails — Easy to moderate, 1 hour.

Totten Trails State Forest is our easiest recommendation —
a soft, 1.2-mile loop through 109 acres of pine and beech

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
WILDLIFE & NATURE
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
What wildlife might I see at Henniker Motel?
More than you might expect. We sit on 15+ acres of woodland
surrounded by hundreds of acres of undeveloped land. Regular
visitors to the property include white-tailed deer, wild
turkeys, and occasional black bears — especially in spring
when they emerge from dens in April. Red-tailed hawks,
great blue herons, and pileated woodpeckers are commonly
spotted. In summer, fireflies light up the property at dusk.
This is New Hampshire woodland. Wildlife sightings are a
feature, not a surprise.
When is fall foliage peak near Henniker?
Foliage peak in the Henniker area is approximately October 12.
The surrounding hills, Contoocook River valley, and mountain
views make this one of the more scenic areas of central
New Hampshire for foliage. October is also when the Historic
Fire Tower on Craney Hill is open for viewing — two weekends
only, check locally for dates.
Are there meteor showers visible from Henniker Motel?
Yes — and our dark skies make them spectacular. Two highlights:
Perseid Meteor Shower — peaks around August 10. Step outside
after midnight for the best viewing. No light pollution on
Craney Pond Road. This is one of the best meteor showers of
the year and a guest favorite.
Geminid Meteor Shower — peaks around December 13. Another
excellent dark sky viewing opportunity right from the property.
Is there bird watching near Henniker Motel?
Excellent bird watching in the area. Four prime locations:
Fox State Forest (22 miles of trails), Farrar Marsh Wildlife
Management Area (wetland species), Old Concord Road (grassland
birds), and Bennett Road/Old Rt. 114 (diverse habitats).
Species commonly seen near the motel include wild turkeys,
red-tailed hawks, great blue herons, belted kingfishers, barred
owls, pileated woodpeckers, and ruby-throated hummingbirds.
Download the free Merlin Bird ID app by Cornell Lab — works
